Testimonial View: Slideshow

There are 3 types of testimonials views: display, slideshow, and form. Each with its own set of settings and options.

The Slideshow View will display testimonials in a carousel that people can scroll through.

Query settings

These settings allow you to choose which testimonials to display in this view and how many.

Select – has two options that lets you choose what to display in that view: one or more testimonials or a specific testimonial. If you choose to display a certain testimonial, you can choose it from the available list or by entering its ID or slug.

Categories – select the category of testimonials you want displayed in this view. You can also choose ‘all categories’ if you want them all included.

Order – the order the testimonials will be displayed in. It can be:

  • random
  • menu order
  • newest first
  • oldest first

Quantity – how many testimonials to display. You can choose a specific number or all.

If you upgrade to the Strong Testimonials pro version (Plus plan or higher), you gain access to the Advanced Views extension, which allows you to choose if you want to display all star ratings or an interval between a certain amount of stars.

Fields settings

Title – select what action clicking the title will trigger. You can select:

  • None – nothing will happen.
  • Full Testimonial – link to full testimonial single page. This option does not work if “Disable permalinks for testimonials” from “Settings” panel is enabled.
  • Company Website – link to company website.

If you upgrade to the Strong Testimonials pro version (Plus plan or higher), you gain access to the Advanced Views extension, which allows you to specify the type of heading to display for the title (H1-H6) or paragraph type.

Featured Image – from here you can set up the featured image:

  • Size – change the size of a testimonial’s featured image. You can even add a custom size by entering the desired width and height. (Available sizes: 75 x 75, 150 x 150, 300 x 300, 1024 x 1024, 1536 x 1536, 2048 x 2048, original size uploaded, or custom)
  • Open full-size image in a lightbox – turn this on/off depending on your needs. Keep in mind that it requires a lightbox provided by your theme or another plugin. When you select this option, a CSS class field appears where you can add custom CSS classes.
  • If no featured image – choose what happens if your testimonial does not have a featured image. You can either show nothing, show Gravatar, or show Gravatar only if found (the Gravatar image is taken from your WordPress profile).

Content – choose how much you want to display:

  • Entire content
  • Automatic excerpt – A short section from your testimonial will be automatically picked and displayed. You can use these excerpts on social media or various places. You can pick from the default length (55 words but your theme may override that) or set a custom length.
    • Add a Read more link to the full testimonial or expand content in place
    • With or without an ellipsis
    • With link text to read more and link text to read less
  • Manual excerpt – To create manual excerpts, you may need to enable them in the post editor. If no manual excerpt, create an excerpt using the default length (55 words but your theme may override that), or custom length.
    • Add a Read more link to the full testimonial or expand content in place
    • With link text to read more and link text to read less
    • Enable/disable Show html content

Custom Fields

  • Rearrange fields
  • Add new field (Chose from various custom or built-in fields for the name section. More empty fields show up when you select one)
