The Importance of Adding a “Read More” Button to Your Testimonials

The “Read More” button for testimonials provides a convenient way to present testimonials to your website’s visitors. Using the “Read More” button, you can display a larger number of testimonials on a single page without overwhelming your visitors with too much information at once.

Visitors will want to avoid sifting through War and Peace in terms of text. If they’re interested in finding out more about your products/services, giving them the option to view more feedback/testimonials via a button makes sense.

In addition to improving the user experience, the “Read More” button also helps to enhance the overall performance of your website. By loading only the necessary testimonials instead of all of them at once.

Doing so will reduce the amount of data that needs to be loaded, leading to faster page load times and a more seamless experience for your visitors. Especially important for mobile devices, which may be on limited data plans or slow internet connections.

Adding the “Read More” and “Load More” buttons

Adding “Read More” and “Load More” buttons to your testimonials is easy. There are two methods. You can use the free version or the pro version of Strong Testimonials. In this guide, we’ll explore both options.

Using the free version of Strong Testimonials

Let’s start with the free version of Strong Testimonials. In the settings of each View, there’s this option: “Read more” link to a page or post.

Views settings

This setting appears only if the view is applied to one or more testimonials, not a specific testimonial. If this is checked, you can choose a page that will be linked with the Read More button.

This first view must be associated with the testimonials you want to display before the Read More button. You need to have another page set up with all the testimonials available and therefore have a second view associated with it.

On the front end, it works like this: You have several testimonials displayed, then a Read More button. A new page loads when you click the button, displaying all/more testimonials.

Using the pro version of Strong Testimonials

An alternative to the method above is to use Strong Testimonial pro’s extension: Infinite Scroll.

With the Infinite Scroll extension, you can display a fixed number of testimonials on the first view and have more load when the user starts scrolling. You can reduce your page’s initial load time, making your site faster for users.

You can find this extension option under a View if you scroll down to the Extra section. If you enable the Pagination option, a drop-down will appear where you can select the Load more button.

After that, you can specify how many testimonials you will load each time you click on the Load more button.

On individual testimonials

Suppose you have a case of longer testimonials. In that instance, there’s an option to create either an automatic or a manual excerpt of the testimonial, specify the length of it, and add a Read more link text to either the full testimonial or expand the content in place!
