Testimonial Importer

Using the Strong Testimonials Importer extension, you can import testimonials/reviews from 3rd party sites/plugins like: Google, Facebook, Booking, Airbnb, Yelp, Trustpilot, Capterra, G2.

After activating the plugin go to Testimonials -> Import.

Reviews that come from other sources will include the reviewer’s name, reviewer’s rating, and sometimes the reviewer’s email. That’s why it’s important to specify in which of your testimonial fields these will be imported. If you don’t have an appropriate field make sure to create one by going to Testimonial -> Fields.

The Minimum Rating option allows you to import only testimonials above a certain rating.

The Auto Import feature will automatically import reviews at a specified time interval.

Importing Facebook Reviews

Paste the Facebook page link in the field. If you have multiple pages, paste the links one after another but make sure to separate them by a comma. Then click on the Add pages button.

You will see new cards appearing depending on how many Facebook pages you added. If you want to only import one, click on the Import now button on the specific page. If you want to import multiple at once, click on the checkbox on the top left corner of each card, then click on the Import selected button on the top right.

You can check your newly imported testimonials by going to Testimonials -> All Testimonials.

These imported testimonials will be placed in separate testimonial categories. For example, the reviews from a ‘Rock Band’ page will be placed in a ‘Rock Band’ testimonial category, which will be a child of ‘Facebook Reviews’.

Importing Google Reviews

To import Google reviews you first need a Google Places API Key (learn how to get one here).

Google requires users to enable billing on their Google accounts before accessing the Google Places API to retrieve reviews.

What to do if you get the “Invalid API key” notice

It usually does not work if Billing is not enabled on the Google Cloud Project on this site. You can learn more here and here.

Enabling billing on the Google Cloud Platform should not result in any actual charges since regular use of the plugin falls under the free usage quota. Even so, enabling billing for your Google account is required in order to import your reviews over time.

After you’ve entered a valid API key the Location Lookup field will appear:

Start typing the name or address of a Google Location, and choose it from the list. The new location will be added.

Make sure you click the Save Changes button after you’ve finished importing, otherwise the locations that you have added won’t be saved. The Google locations that you have saved will be used when auto-importing reviews.

You can check your newly imported testimonials by going to Testimonials -> All Testimonials.

Google only serves 5 reviews in a single API request. But the number of reviews from a certain location will increase over time if you use the auto-import feature.

These imported testimonials will be placed in a separate testimonial category. For example, the Google reviews from ‘Pizzana Brentwood’ will be placed in a ‘Pizzana Brentwood’ testimonial category, which will be a child of ‘Google Reviews’.
